When Love is Wrong Nothing Can go Right
“Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love, But the greatest of these is Love….” 1 Corinthians 13:3 Love can be described as an intense emotion of affection, warmth, fondness towards a person, a passionate desire, longing and feeling for a person. For a woman, it can be described as that feeling that makes you go weak in the knees when that man walks past you. According to Apostle Paul in the bible, Love is patient, Love is kind, it does not envy, and it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails. Corinthians 13: 4-8 One of the greatest commandments in the Bible is for us to ‘love our neighbour as ourselves.
The Bible says ‘GOD is Love’, we are called to “Love our God with all our might and soul’ and to love our neighbours as ourselves. God’s love to us is total and unconditional and there is no power in heaven or on earth than pure unconditional love. True love can only emanate from the soul and from the divine consciousness of God Unconditional love is an experience which can only be given by the master of love himself, our Lord Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate price to show us His love by laying down his life and shedding His blood for us on the cross so that we can live eternally with him. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brother, our sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. John 3:16-18
On Valentine’s Day men proclaim undying romantic love to women and vice versa, and the whole world seems to be basking in the euphoria of flowers, cakes, and romantic gifts. Whilst some are renewing their vows to each other and thanking God for the love of their Lives, some women especially single women, widows, who have no partners, feel lonely and unloved. The reality of their single status hits them more now than ever before. Many can’t wait for the day to be over. They feel the pressure to accept ungodly gifts and ungodly invitations just to feel loved on Valentine’s day., but my sister, instead of feeling sad and sorry for yourself for not receiving flowers, cards or Valentine’s gifts, why not bask in the love of the one who died for you. Even if a man gives you a million dollars on Valentine’s Day, he cannot lay down his life for you... The truth is no man is capable of loving like God! The Love of God will guide you, protect you, and direct your steps. His love is undying, never expires, and never gets stale. He will not cheat on you. He will not lie to you, He will not fail you, He is the only faithful lover, renewing His mercies towards you everyday, and He is love personified. No one can love you better than He can. His love will not leave you.
I know the case of a man who constantly sent flowers, chocolates, and gifts to his girlfriend during their courtship which lasted for a few years before they got married. On their wedding day, he arranged for a Love boat to convey them to the site of the wedding reception. A few years into their marriage, this same man walks out of the marriage, his excuse? Irreconcilable differences. No matter who has left you, there is one who remains! His love does not expire! How we human beings pursue human love and end up being disappointed. Why don’t you dissociate yourself from the further pursuits of human love and pursue the one who loves you most of all. When you find him, human love will find you. He loves you and He invites you to come and hide yourself in His love. .
When you witness others who seem to be so joyful in receiving their valentine gifts, meditate on the love notes that God has written to you in His word; He is saying to you today: “No longer will you be termed forsaken, nor shall your land anymore be termed desolate, but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah, for the Lord delights in you and your land shall be married”…Isaiah 62; 4
This is not to say that you should quit believing God for your life partner but that the desire and need for a life partner should not over ride your love for your God and the love for others around you.
The truth is WE DONT HAVE TO WAIT FOR VALENTINES DAY TO SHOW LOVE,, everyday is a fresh opportunity to show love to people around us, tomorrow may be too late.! Valentine’s day is not only about showing love to the opposite sex, it is also a day to express love to your female friends, your fellow workers in the office, and of course the poor and needy, the orphans and widows, be the gift to somebody else. Be the instrument of joy and hope for somebody else, sow a seed of love into the life of someone by doing the unexpected for them., turn yourself into an embodiment of love, and you will be amazed at how the Lord will Bless you in return. Indeed not every gift sent out by all men on Valentine’s Day carries a true expression of Love and appreciation of the person receiving the gift; some gifts are simply baits for the woman to give into what she would not ordinarily consider.
A lot of men go out of their way to impress the women on Valentine’s Day, but you have to be careful what you allow to impress you. Roses are very beautiful but they also have thorns. A lot of men in giving gifts especially gifts to women who are not their own seek self gratification and immediate returns. Some people say ‘there are no free lunches’. It is better for you not to receive any gift than to receive the one that would lead your soul to destruction.
The bible says: - “Every good and perfect gift comes from God in whom there is neither variableness nor shadow of turning. His gifts maketh rich and added no sorrow,.Perfect love casteth out fear…..”
Beware of Valentine gifts that carry sorrow and fear. Many women have mortgaged their destinies because of such gifts. Some women don’t mind
being told a lie just to receive a gift on Valentines Day, but the consequences of that lie maybe too hard for them to bear later on. True love seeks the glory of God and the good of others. A man that claims to truly love you wants the best for you and wants to see you fulfil purpose and destiny in life.
